WHAT IS CRYOTHERAPY?

Cryotherapy is a procedure that uses extreme cold to destroy tissue, removing skin tags, actinic keratoses and pigmentation marks.

WILL THE TREATMENT BE PAINFUL?

You will feel a tingling sensation with the initial freezing whilst the Cryotherapy pen is directly spraying onto your skin lesion. When the area thaws out there is a pinching feeling.

HOW LONG DOES THE APPOINTMENT LAST?

Cryotherapy only takes minutes to do, but a 15 to 30 minute appointment time is scheduled. This allows for the consultation, completion of a consent form, and taking pre-treatment photographs.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER A CRYOTHERAPY TREATMENT?

Following the freezing a wheal may form which can develop into a blister, then  start to form a scab. The scab will fall off in 2 to 3 weeks. As primary healing occurs the area will be lighter than the surrounding area due to loss of melanocytes. 

HOW LONG WILL THE BENEFITS LAST?

Occasionally another treatment is required, but for most lesions cryotherapy is a permanent option.
