ZOOM FACE and Maskne

The majority of people have been forced to work from home during the last year due to COVID19 and Social distancing which has given rise to video conferences, video meetings, and video communication at work.

ZOOM FACE is increasing people’s concerns over their image.

When people take selfies they can pose, find the best angle to hold their mobile, show the best side of their face, create expressions, alter lighting and even edit and enhance their image to improve the quality of their selfie.

During a zoom call people are analysing how they appear, expressing concerns and some are sick of seeing themselves on zoom calls.

Here you are confronted by yourself talking, you notice your jowls, does my nose look too big and distorted, do my teeth look bigger, the lines and wrinkles are more obvious, and you are distracted by the flaws with your unflattering image. Are you feeling self-conscious which is affecting self-confidence, and this actually has an impact on your job.

There is immense pressure to look good, and how you feel has a major impact on mental health.

People want to look natural, look their self and many have continued to have Botulinum Toxin during lockdown as only their upper face is visible whilst wearing a mask.

The lower face is revealed during Zoom calls and with continued use of wearing a mask some people are developing Maskne – a term used for acne type spots which are created through the warm moist environment of wearing a mask – and perhaps nor washing a home-made mask daily or not changing a disposable mask daily.

At Cotswold Face Aesthetics Clinic we can help maintain the appearance of the lower face with injectables to restore, re-shape and contour the lower face when people suffer with heavy jowls and marionette lines (sad lines which run from the mouth corner to chin ) We can lengthen the chin and enhance the profile and sharpen the jawline.

As an accredited Clinic for the Acne and Rosacea Association, we prescribe specialist creams and serums formulated for people suffering with Maskne Acne, spots, pigmentation etc.

Many patients want to look the best they can and for some, this is part of their emotional make up and they rely on treatments to help maintain self-confidence and emotional wellbeing – we are excluded from lockdown for treating Medical patients and if you are suffering psychologically from your appearance then please get in touch.
